Open Question: Manual Mode/Exposure Compensation in T1i?

Okay so I just got a Canon Rebel T1i last friday, and under manual mode I tried changing the aperture cause the manual said that exposure comp changes with the aperture settings. Well I tried changing the aperture from a narrow one to a wide one and back, and the exposure ALWAYS stayed at -2! Needless to say, my pictures always come out super dark under manual mode and after much research through the manual, I still found no solution. So I went back to the store and exchanged it for the same product, however it does the same thing. So my question is, can someone give me a step-by-step tutorial on how to change exposure compensation on manual mode? it would be greatly appreciated. more

Open Question: Canon MP480 paper jam?

I bought a Canon MP480 printer about a year ago and it worked perfectly fine until about 5 days ago. The printer feeds the paper in slightly but the rollers do not feed it through fully. The paper does not jam because it doesn't even go in and the printer says, "paper jam, remove paper and press OK". This happens every time I attempt to print. Open Question: Help deciding on a DSLR camera?

I'm somewhat new to the field of digital SLR photography, but I have been looking on websites and I've taken out books to learn more. I know the basics about exposure, aperture, shutter speed, sensitivity, and everything, but I know I'm still a beginner. Right now I'm looking into DSLR cameras and trying to decide which one to invest in as my first SLR. I'm only fifteen so I don't have a job yet, but I have money saved up. Still, I'm trying not to get anything over $600-$700, which I know is on the lower end of DSLR cameras and that I'll have less options. Two cameras I've been looking into lately are the Nikon D5000 and the Pentax K-x. I'm currently leaning towards the K-x because it had a few feature better than the D5000 and the D5000 costs more. I'm getting impatient waiting to get a camera, so I'm trying to find a cheaper one so that I can get it sooner. So, basically I need suggestions on what camera I should get. Which of the two I mentioned I should get, or if you have any other suggestions, I'm open. Nikon, Canon, Pentax. I'd appreciate any tips or advice you have for me, I'll take as much as I can get! Okay so I'm 15 years old, and I want to buy my first dslr. I have never used a dslr before, and the only thing I plan on taking pictures of is myself, friends/family, and when I go on vacation. I have been looking at the nikon and canon cameras and I have been reading a lot about dslr's. I always thought that the more megapixel the camera had the better the image quality. I recently found out that that is not true and that the lens and the talent of the photography produces a good image. So now I am even more confused as if I should get a standard 18-55mm lens with any camera I chose to get. Please help me decide on a great camera/lens for shooting myself, friends/family, and when I go on vacation. I am a very fast learning by the way. Thank You! :) more

Open Question: Would you buy a Fuji HS10 digital camera?

I'm in the market for a good bridge camera with a good optical zoom and something easy to hold! The last comment may sound 'odd' but I do not have the steadiest of hands so need something with a good grip. I was toying with the idea of a Canon also as some of their cameras have the 'rotating' screen which you can use to protect it - hope that makes sense! Open Question: Deciding camera or video camera?

My dad wants me to research, but I'd just like some opinions first. My dad bought an Olympus tough 3000 this year after I accidentally broke his FE 3010(which sucked like crap),and it is much much better but he discovered that the lighting is very poor when you take pictures compared to other cameras such as Sony,etc etc.It also has HD video,but when I play the video on the computer,it goes slowly and stuffs up? Anyways, I need to decide whether a camera or a video camera would be better because well, he also wants a better camera AND a video camera because he used to take heaps of home videos. Obviously he wouldn't get both, but well he needs some help deciding. I was looking into the Canon IXUS range where they have HD quality. Any thoughts on that? Open Question: help me how to capture a good image?

i have a canon g11. but i am not knowledgeable about capturing photos. i wanted to capture a photo of persons with a landscape in the background (green mountains and blue skies, white clouds). i tried to set my camera in landscape, but when i take the photo with the person in front, the background is just white. when there is no person in front, it takes blue skies and white clouds. i tried to re-set it to portrait but it cant capture the background, it just goes on white. i need help from those who use canon, particularly g11, so they can give me at least a little idea on how to get the correct images by using canon's camera setting. i don't dream of taking superb photos that are for exhibit purposes becoz i know i can't do it. i just want good quality images. please help me. more

Open Question: problem with 'canon pixma MP610 printer?

Open Question: Canon XS or T1i (ISO issues)?

I have an opportunity to buy both of these cameras (I can only get one...), the XS for $375 Cdn and the T1i for $600 Cdn. I know that the higher ISO range of the T1i would be better for those super low light situations XS only goes up tp 1600 and the T1i through various settings can do 12000 ISO). Is the much greater ISO range on the T1i worth it? I am in need of a camera for an up and coming concert. I had an XT and it was ok and then I had the T1i which I loved but ended up selling it. Now I need another camera and I'm not sure which one I should go for. What are your opinions? I tried googling a comparison but the only results that I could find were for the Canon XSi vs T1i, nothing about the XS vs the T1i. Thanks!!! more

Open Question: I need a title for my story.?

The story in question is a spin off of another story i have called Due Fate. However, there is only 1 character in common, and it is no way a sequel, and technically is non canon to due Fate. the basic plot, which is purposefully shallow, is that Enigma(the main villain from due fate) has brought 10 of the best warriors in the world together to fight. His reason is simply because he wants to watch them tear each other apart, but his true reason is to reduce the amount of people capable of putting up a fight against him. The winner of this "tournament" will have the chance to forever change their fate, however. I am drawing a blank for a title, but if the word Fate can be kept, I'd like it more. Open Question: Canon MCP 190 Not printing ...?

I have a Canon MCP 190, I haven't been using the Printer for sometime. Just yesterday i cleaned the head and changed to a new black cartridge. I installed the drivers and the scanner works perfect. The only thing is, whenever i print or send a print to the printer runs it thought, but doesn't prints anything. All i get is plain paper.
