Open Question: bicycle tire question..I have a mountain bike..I want to change to road tires?
I commute 20 miles a day on my mountain bike. But, I want to change out my mountain bike tires to the Bell tire they sell at Walmart. The road tire is 26 x 1.75 and I have 26 inch rims can I switch out tire sizes and what size tube do I buy for a 26 x 1.75 tire? My old tires are 26 x 2.10 with tube size of 26 x 1.75-2.125. Thank you!thank you for helping! I appreciate it, :-) moreOpen Question: How can you tell if a bicycle has a suspension component?
How can I tell if I am able to adjust my bike's suspension? It is a normal bike - not a mountain nor motorbike. Thanks. moreOpen Question: different types of bikes?
Hi I'm looking to buy a bike, mainly for the purpose of getting around my college campus. It has mostly paved roads and brick roads. I'm not sure what kind of bike to get. I understand that mountain bikes are probably best for doing ly.everything, including trails, which I do go on occasionally. My biggest question is if a road bike would be a good option. I'm not really sure what a road bike is, but from what I know it has a lighter frame, and thinner wheels? Do these thinner wheels get punctured easily/ need more of a maintenance? I'm just looking for something light and small and comfortable to go around in. (Cruisers look comfy, but are a little more chunky/ heavy then I would like) I'm looking at ads on craigslist etc. Is there anything I should be aware of while shopping online? I don't know about sizes either, but I know I'm on the short side (5'4 tall) How does this one look? http://florida.freecycleshopper.com/bicycles/ladies-free-spirit-24----15-speed.html It's rather cheap, which is why I'm doubting the quality of it...plus I haven't heard of the brand Thanks in advance! moreOpen Question: what reference/resource would i use to find the following?
references/resources A.) almanac B.) atlas C.) dictionary D.) encyclopedia E.) thesaurus question type things (pick A,B,C,D or E for the following) 1. Where is England in relation to France? 2. How do you pronounce the word scheme? 3. What were the earliest bicycles like? 4. What are the world's three highest mountains? 5. How far apart are Ohio and North Carolina? 6. What is the worlds fastest airplane? moreResolved Question: Pressure and friction Relationship?
1) Is there a relationship between pressure and friction? I always thought that as pressure on a surface increases, the friction increases. For example, the more pressure I put on snow the deeper the foot goes and therefore, the more friction there is. 2) Why do racing/city bicycles have slimmer wheels than mountain bike wheels? The way I see it, urban bikes exert more pressure and therefore are dug deeper into the surface. moreResolved Question: are bicycle tire liners good/worth it?
i love road biking and love going fast! but as soon as i get a flat i am doomed because i just can't do the install of a new tube and all that. on a mountain bike sure its easy but on a road bike its definitely more difficult i screwed up my hand once trying to replace it. anyways i went to bike shop today and guy recommended to me either get MEGA TUBE which is a lot thicker than ur normal bike tube or get mr tuffys tire liner. OR get BOTH and my tires will be bulletproof! lol. anyways it sounds good since a flat tire is my worst enemy but i read around online that it kinda weighs the bike down? will i really go that much slower? is it worth it? tell me ur thoughts/experiences/etc i wanna hear from you guys! moreResolved Question: Choosing Between Ebay Folding Mountain Bike?
I need a cheap folding bike and have searched for a long time and found nothing appropriate that stays available on Craigslist and new bikes with real brands (Dahon/Montague) a bit too expensive. The cheapest new folding bikes with 20" tires do not appeal to me and do not appear well-built anyways, made with the cheapest components. So I am choosing between: $300 = $270 bike + $30 Bike Bag 26" FOLDING MOUNTAIN BIKE BICYCLE MTB SHIMANO 21-SPEED http://cgi.ebay.com/26-FOLDING-MOUNTAIN-BIKE-BICYCLE-MTB-SHIMANO-21-SPEED-/170531870766?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b47dd82e $200 with included bike bag (leaving extra $100 for parts) 21 Speed Folding Mountain Bike Foldable Mountain Bike http://cgi.ebay.com/21-Speed-Folding-Mountain-Bike-Foldable-Mountain-Bike-/270628476640?pt=Mountain_Bikes&hash=item3f02b6d6e0 After a tune-up, does anything seem like it requires a replacement? Seems much cheaper than better folding bikes and better than cheaper ones elsewhere. Any help is appreciated. moreResolved Question: whats the shifter on the bottom of tora fork in bicycle?/?

Hello! how are you Im a beginer of mountain bike, now I want to spent around 300 AUD to buy a mountain bike, actually I usually ride on the road, I need a bike that is lighter and easy to go uphill and the tyre and rim should be strong. I've been searching for a website that does bicycle reviews, and/or makes bike suggestions. I've found plenty telling you the difference between cruisers, mountain bikes, and hybrids, but not to help me find anything specific, or that just has lots of info on what bikes are out there.I know I should find a bike that fits me personaly, howeve I feel the same about cars, and I don't go to a dealership before reading up, and getting an idea of what I want to look at. moreResolved Question: Decent bicycle for under $500?
So I've been thinking a bit, and between the high price of maintenance, insurance, and gas on a car, and the fact that 99% of my commuting is within 8 miles round trip, I thought it would be a good idea to buy a bike and sell the car. I'm also going to be moving in about 6 months so I would eventually be selling it anyway, while I can take a bike with me. Then I started looking at bike prices online. I was amazed at how expensive they can get. Dropping 1000 dollars on a bike that has 1 human power doesn't make much sense when that would more than pay for insurance etc. on a 190 horsepower machine that goes 70 miles an hour in air conditioned bliss without me exerting myself. So that's just not a realistic option, don't tell me otherwise. So I'm going to a bike shop tomorrow to get fitted and ask their advice and whatnot, but I want to have at least a little knowledge before I get there. I'm doing city riding and have no intention of going trail riding in the mountains, but there's plenty of potholes and dirt trails and stuff that go through the city... would I be better off with a road bike or a mountain bike? Or is there a middle option? And for 500 bucks or less, are there any features I should look for? Any specific brands or models I need to avoid? Thanks for any help, I plan on riding a bike instead of a car for as long as possible so any information is going to be really helpful! I've tried searching on forums and stuff but it seems like mostly people just say, "spend more money" when you ask about budget bikes. moreResolved Question: To buy the Trek 1.1 or Trek 1.5? First time road bike purchase and user!?
I rode on the Trek 1.1 for very little but it felt awesome. Of course this will be my first "expensive" bike purchase. Always have ridden much lower end mountain bikes. The Trek 1.1 looks great and it is going for 599.99 at LBS. Good sale. I've read great reviews about it. However, I have also read great reviews about the Trek 1.5. This one is going for 899.99. This is a $300.00 difference! Can someone help guide me in the right direction? Is the 1.5 that much better that it'd be worth the extra money? Looking to commute from home to school and also take it out for rides and hopefully get into bicycling. I'm 6'2, 180 lbs. Looking at probably a 58 in frame. Thanks! moreResolved Question: do you think riding a "mountain bicycle" is fun? (if you were on a date and the other offered this for fun)?

Hello friends, when there are 3 front and 7 rear gears in a bike then it is calculated and considered as 21 speed. similarly, when there is 3 front and 8 or 9 rear gears they are 24 & 27 speed bike. I know that result is by multiplying both front and rear gears, But I want to know by which principle they are calculated it as 21,24 or 27 speed bike. My exact question is what is the meaning of "21 speed bike". * Yesterday i bought a new MTB with 21 speed, front and rear suspension with front disc brake and rear V brake, shimano 21 speed rapid fire gear system and bike body is made up of high quality Aluminium alloy-6061. please clear my problem. I am thinking of buying a mountain bike to exercise. I hate running and would like to get some more cardio. So is biking a good exercise??? Thanks!!!!! moreVoting Question: Weird Dreams~ Please interpret em' for me?
ok, I'm on antidepressant for my panic attacks, so I believe that's the reason for the vivid and crazy dreams I've been having. Anyway... First Dream: I dreamed I was wearing a white shirt, cowboy-looking hat, light blue levis jeans, and white pair of shoes. I was riding my old, red mountain bicycle (it was stolen many years ago). In that dream, I know I had the looks and I was proud of it. NOTE: I'm not being stuck-up or anything, it's just IN THE DREAM that I felt that way. Then I was riding my bicycle speeding through the roads, cutting pass cars. Then I want to start cycling on the side-walk. So I cycled fast from the road and leap to the side-walk... My bicycle landed on the grass patch but it was muddy and wet. Suddenly I realize the grounds were wet and it started to rain. My bicycle started to become 'stuck' in the mud so I started using force to get out of it to start cycling on the road. Strangely, I was not dirtied by the mud splattering all over. When I was finally on the sidewalk cycling, I start to realize that peddling became harder and harder... as if my shoelace of my shoes was stuck on the chains. As I continue cycling, I look at my shoes but they were not stuck or anything... but the peddling was still hard and requires a lot of exertion to peddle. Then it begin to rain heavier and heavier.. I became very wet but continued to cycle and didn't care what people think of me. In fact, I was enjoying cycling in the rain despite wearing 'good'. So... what the hell was that all about?I'm a guy, btw. moreResolved Question: How do I tune up my mountain bike after not riding it for about 8 years?
Between my family, we have several bicycles. Unfortunately, we were storing a large headboard in front of a mountain bike and I completely forgot about it until we just sold the headboard. At this point, do I need to get new tires or should I just try filling the current ones? Should I take it in for a professional "tune up" or are there just a few things I should be looking for? moreVoting Question: WHY ARE THERE NO MAGAZINE'S FOR VINTAGE BEACH CRUISER BICYCLE'S?

I originally started exercising daily with the idea of achieving a flatter and tougher abdomen. My workout consists of 55 push-ups, 52 lunges (26 per leg), 50 squats, and various abdominal exercises. Things like crunches, bridges, leg lifts, mountain climbers, and bicycles just to name a few. I did this every day for ten weeks. (That's a little over two months.) My abs are definitely a lot stronger but my arms and legs are twigs. It's like all the fat from them was moved to my stomach. It's just really disappointing to have stuck with this for so long and not have the results I wanted. moreResolved Question: Should I make him keep his promise to me or wait?
A few weeks ago my boyfriend and I looked at bicycles at a bicycle store and we even had the salesman take the bikes down that we both wanted, a men's and women's mountain bike, and we both got on the bikes and sat on them and my boyfriend told me that he would get them the following week, on his payday. Anyway, on his payday, he said he forgot and I suggested that we get them last Friday and I would pay half for mine so he wouldn't have to foot the entire bill and he said he wanted to get them with his own money but he would get them regardless. Anyway, he kept putting it off and now here it is Wednesday. I brought it up to him again today and he was like well, I really want to go hiking and we can't do everything all at once, you know? I didn't say anything but it kind of ticked me off b/c I don't like being told something and then somebody not keep their word. Should I keep bugging him about the bicycle because he told me he wanted to get involved in bicycle riding/mountain biking and how it would be good exercise for us. I don't want to make him angry but I don't want him to forget about it either. What should I say and how should I approach it? By the way, he has the money and it is not a question of money. moreResolved Question: Can anyone who has a bicycle help me?
Last night, some ghetto idiot stole the back tire off of my bicycle. I left it chained to a bike rack in a gated area, but I did not chain the back tire to the rack or the rest of the bike. Someone came up to it with tools and took the back tire. It is a 15 speed mountain bike with 26" tires. How much is a new tire? Can I get one used? Where (besides the obvious bike repair stores) can I get one? Can anyone at least give me an estimate? Thank you so much for any help you can provide. PS What is the best kind of bike lock?I do mean that they took the entire back wheel. It might be interesting to try, but I recently found out that they have done this before at this bike rack and they probabily know how much they can get for it. moreResolved Question: Which form of exercise will burn more calories?

I need a bike that can get me around campus as well as down the road a few miles to the beach. Also, I hope to use my bike to ride on trails, but I don't necessarily need a mountain bike. I just want the bicycle that'll be the most reliable/dependable for every and any place I want to take it. I need something for a good price, and I don't need anything spectacular (awesome, expensive bikes are much more likely to be stolen on campus than something simple). Most Mountain bikes come equipped with either two 26-inch wheels or two 29-inch wheels. Tour bicycles offers a special model with one 29-inch wheel on the front and a 26-inch wheel on the back. Tour claims the small rear wheel facilitates faster acceleration, while the bigger front wheel allows riders to clear obstacles more easily. Tour also uses lightweight components made from material that is stronger and more durable than the material used by some of its rivals. Tour differentiates its mountain bike on the basis of: A) Location B) Quality C) Type moreResolved Question: What can I do about my stolen property due to defective workmanship?
I moved into a brand new development with a 'secure' bicycle storage facility recently. Last week thieves entered the store and took away 2 mountain bikes which were double-chained to the installed frames - they did this by simply undoing the bolts securing the frames together and lifting the locked bikes over them. Firstly, the door to the storage area was insecure - a key code system that failed to work properly, a bar connected to the ground on one side that you can reach through with your hand and lift to release the mechanism, and the handle on the other side which could also be reached and opened by sliding your hand through the grille. Secondly and more importantly, the security nuts (or shear-nuts) used to bolt the frames together had not been sheared off when installed, leaving them open to vandalism. How they work is when enough turning pressure is applied, the hexagonal section breaks away to leave a tamper-proof dome. All the thieves needed was a spanner to hold them in place and undue the bolts. This is something I was not aware of until after the theft. Myself and other residents had made phone calls and sent emails to the developer highlighting these problems over the weeks before but no action was taken, leading to the thefts of maine and other bikes. If anyone could give useful advice, please let me know if I have a case against the builder for negligence.
