London, Aug 8 (IANS) New research explains why a whiff of perfume reminds us of the fun-filled days spent with our grandmother or why the tinkling of a bicycle bell takes us back to the joy of being given our first bike. Scientists have found that if we smell or hear something while undergoing an emotional experience, the odour or sound is woven together with the emotive memory in the same part of the brain. Studies have found that no matter how badly we have been hurt in the past, we dwell on the positive when thinking back. It is thought finding the positive side to past failures and tragedies better equips us to face future challenges. http://in.news.yahoo.com/43/20100808/884/twl-why-do-our-senses-evoke-vivid-memori_1.htmlEdit: Nutsters! Today I was crossing traffic on my bicycle, and some guy rolled down his window and screamed, "Hey, use the bike lane!" At first, of course, I got mad. :o) After all, I know the rules, right? But suddenly I started to wonder. Now I'm not sure. I try to follow the rules, but I can't if I've learned them incorrectly. I was at an intersection, waiting for the green light so I could cross straight ahead to the road directly in front of me. THAT road had a bike lane. This side of the intersection didn't have one. (But would it have made a difference if it did?) The road I was on had two lanes (one-way). The right lane was for right turns only. The left lane was for left turns and for going straight. I was waiting in the left lane, in the middle of the road, as far right as I could get to the dividing line. The light turned green. I started cycling across the intersection, toward the bike lane (which was a diagonal shot through the intersection, because I'd started in the left lane). That's when guy rolled down his window and admonished me. Was I supposed to get in the right-turn-only lane, then cross to the far bike lane? What if I'd been turning left? I still should have been in the left lane, right? I hope these questions make sense. After all that explaining, this is the question: PART ONE: While on a bicycle, I need to use THE SAME lanes cars use, correct? PART TWO: If my road had a bicycle lane (it didn't), should I have stayed in it and crossed through the right-turn only lane? Thanks! moreResolved Question: Math ..help emergency !!!?

This process continues alternately every hour. C)) As the years go by, the sprockets on the wheel wear out so that the chain starts to slip. Max replaces the worn wheel with a 14 cm diameter sprocket wheel from the old bicycle. The motor still turns the wheel clockwise and anticlockwise at the same constant rate as before. hi people! i'm really desperate here. and i don't understand the meaning for PART C of this question: (In his factory Max needs an alarm that rings every hour. He pulls apart an old bicycle and builds a machine using the bicycle chain and one of the sprocket wheels. He breaks the chain, hangs it over the wheel and attaches a bell to each end as shown. Max attaches a motor that turns the wheel clockwise for exactly one hour and then anticlockwise for exactly one hour, both at the same constant rate. The wheel turns clockwise for one hour so that exactly 1pm the right bell hits the floor and rings. Then the wheel turns anticlockwise so that at exactly 2pm the left bell hits the floor and rings. This process continues alternately every hour. A) At 2.10 p.m. the difference in height between the 2 bells is 80 cm. How far off the floor is the left bell at 3 p.m.? B) The diameter of the sprocket wheel (to the center of the chain width) is ten centimetres. How many revolutions (rounded to 2 decimal place) does the wheel make each hour? C) As the years go by, the sprockets on the wheel wear out so that the chain starts to slip. Max replaces the worn wheel with a 14 cm diameter sprocket wheel from the old bicycle. The motor still turns the wheel clockwise and anticlockwise at the same constant rate as before. To make sure the bells still ring every hour he changes the height of the centre of the wheel on the wall. By how much, to the nearest millimetre, does Max raise or lower the centre of the new wheel?) when they are talking about same constant rate, do they mean the same amount of distance travelled per hour, or the same number of revolutions per hour?? because if the wheels move the same amount of distance per hour (which is what i think means constant rate), which means the only variable changed is the size of the 2 wheels, i dont see why there should be a difference in height... unless they mean the same number of revolutions (by travelling at same constant rate)?? anyone care to explain part c to me? no i'm not looking for answers or anything, so don't tell me that. i'll will indeed appreciate it very much! :)) (thanks for reading this long! ) moreVoting Question: Math Help Please!!!!!!!!!!?

"We didn't have fast food when I was growing up," I informed him. "All the food was slow." "C'mon, seriously. Where did you eat?" "It was a place called 'at home,'" I explained. "Grandma cooked every day and when Grandpa got home from work, we sat down together at the dining room table, and if I didn't like what she put on my plate I was allowed to sit there until I did like it." By this time, the kid was laughing so hard I was afraid he was going to suffer serious internal damage, so I didn't tell him the part about how I had to have permission to leave the table. But here are some other things I would have told him about my childhood if I figured his system could have handled it: Some parents NEVER owned their own house, wore Levis, set foot on a golf course, traveled out of the country or had a credit card. In their later years they had something called a revolving charge card. The card was good only at Sears Roebuck. Or maybe it was Sears AND Roebuck. Either way, there is no Roebuck anymore. Maybe he died. My parents never drove me to soccer practice. This was mostly because we never had heard of soccer. I had a bicycle that weighed probably 50 pounds, and only had one speed, (slow). We didn't have a television in our house until I was 11, but my grandparents had one before that. It was, of course, black and white, but they bought a piece of colored plastic to cover the screen. The top third was blue, like the sky, and the bottom third was green, like grass. The middle third was red. It was perfect for programs that had scenes of fire trucks riding across someone's lawn on a sunny day. Some people had a lens taped to the front of the TV to make the picture look larger. I was 13 before I tasted my first pizza, it was called "pizza pie." When I bit into it, I burned the roof of my mouth and the cheese slid off, swung down, plastered itself against my chin and burned that, too. It's still the best pizza I ever had. We didn't have a car until I was 15. Before that, the only car in our family was my grandfather's Ford. He called it a "machine." I never had a telephone in my room. The only phone in the house was in the living room and it was on a party line. Before you could dial, you had to listen and make sure some people you didn't know weren't already using the line. Pizzas were not delivered to our home. But milk was. All newspapers were delivered by boys and all boys delivered newspapers. I delivered a newspaper, six days a week. It cost 7 cents a paper, of which I got to keep 2 cents. I had to get up at 4 AM every morning. On Saturday, I had to collect the 42 cents from my customers. My favorite customers were the ones who gave me 50 cents and told me to keep the change. My least favorite customers were the ones who seemed to never be home on collection day. Movie stars kissed with their mouths shut. At least, they did in the movies. Touching someone else's tongue with yours was called French kissing and they didn't do that in movies. I don't know what they did in French movies. French movies were dirty and we weren't allowed to see them. If you grew up in a generation before there was fast food, you may want to share some of these memories with your children or grandchildren. Just don't blame me if they bust a gut laughing. Growing up isn't what it used to be, is it? MEMORIES from a friend: My Dad is cleaning out my grandmother's house (she died in December) and he brought me an old Royal Crown Cola bottle. In the bottle top was a stopper with a bunch of holes in it. I knew immediately what it was, but my daughter had no idea. She thought they had tried to make it a salt shaker or something. I knew it as the bottle that sat on the end of the ironing board to "sprinkle" clothes with because we didn't have steam irons. Man, I am old. How many do you remember? Head lights dimmer switches on the floor. Ignition switches on the dashboard. Heaters mounted on the inside of the fire wall. Real ice boxes. Pant leg clips for bicycles without chain guards. Soldering irons you heat on a gas burner. Using hand signals for cars without turn signals. Older Than Dirt Quiz: Count all the ones that you remember not the ones you were told about Ratings at the bottom. 1. Blackjack chewing gum 2. Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water 3. Candy cigarettes 4. Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles 5. Coffee shops or diners with table side juke boxes 6. Home milk delivery in glass bottles with cardboard stoppers 7! ok i got this ela project due friday and i dident read a book please someone help me these are the directions Book Box Independent Reading Project Step One- READ YOUR BOOK! (Fiction, minimum of 150 pages, not a part of the Wappingers curriculum, appropriate for school and age) Step Two- Collect five (5) items that represent your book. These items can represent the characters, conflicts, themes, setting, or overall plot of your book. For example if you are reading The Giver by Lois Lowery you might include the following items: a memory book or photo album, a miniature bicycle, and a pale blue marble. (This is only three example items; you need FIVE.) You may not use this novel for your book box. Step Three- Type up an explanation for each item explaining why you included the item in the box. What significance does it have? What does it represent? Each explanation should be 7-10 sentences in length. Example: The color of Jonas’ eyes is a pale blue. This is significant because it makes him different from the other people in his community. Only the Giver of memories and a young six year old girl have eyes as light as his. Inside the Box Over fifty people had signed up to take part in the protest, but only about fifteen true supporters came. There were bicycles, unicycles and bags piled in the center of the square, while we stood around the edge trying not to step out of the box that the security guards told us to stand in and waited for someone to come by and ask about the cause. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey circus was the first occasion in which I dealt with the fight against free speech. Some people truly did not appreciate our presence at the protest. A lone man walked over to us smugly and off balance. This man tried to explain to us that we’re in the wrong, and while slurring his words, said, “liberalism is a mental disease.” We all laughed and my friend told him that he, himself, was a conservative, this made the man appear dumbfounded as he walked away mumbling who knows what. Our next encounter was with an older woman wearing a rather fetching bright green visor who looked at us and shook her head while saying, “Go home children, go home.” She seemed more worried for our safety than the children with their Hannah Montana t-shirts and Transformers backpacks pointing at us while they whispered to their parents. The parents, with their fanny packs, usually whisked their children away while passing judgment onto us. On the other hand, not everyone we met welcomed us with clenched fists and eyes of judgmental ridicule. Two girls came over to us and asked for some papers we were handing out. This circumstance was a surprise to me, because I honestly thought that most adolescents were sufferers of the dreaded MTV addiction syndrome, a terrible disease where people only watch and imitate the idiocy that appears on the so-called music television channel. For once, I was overcome with relief and joy when I was proven wrong. Being proven wrong is not something I usually enjoy, because I have strong beliefs that I intend to keep throughout my life. No amount of fanny packs, clowns, or closed mindedness will be able to lock them up in a box. At least one person will change a little from seeing people act upon their beliefs and take advantage of the greatness that is free speech. People need to express their beliefs, and when they do, an incredible future will come whirling out of all the boxes. moreResolved Question: funny (perferably cheap) halloween costume thnks?

Berlin - Stung by the economic crisis, a brothel in Berlin has leapt on the "green" bandwagon and is offering discounts to clients who can prove they arrived by public transport or bicycle - with some success. "Everyone's a winner," explained Regina Goetz, a former prostitute who runs the "Maison d'envie" (House of Desire) brothel in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg, a district in the former East Berlin, which is a stronghold for the ecologist Green party. "The environment is a topic on everyone's lips and it's pretty difficult to park around here. So we came up with the idea of an 'eco discount' of $7.40 to anyone who leaves the car at home," Goetz told AFP. "The crisis has slashed our turnover in half in the last year," the 56-year-old told AFP over coffee and cakes, flanked by scantily clad prostitutes. But the green discounts have proved a roaring success and got business back on track, she said. To qualify for the discount, "clients who come by bike show their helmet or their padlock keys," she said. "Others hand in their ticket or monthly pass if they have come on the bus." Nice atmosphere The brothel itself is a model of discretion - only a small brass plaque advertising "the little sexy address" betrays the true purpose of the building, housed in a block with a bike shop, a burger bar and a pub. Clients pass through a courtyard scattered with rubbish dumps, pushchairs, kids' bikes and buggies before arriving at a corridor where a doormat emblazoned with a red heart indicates the hoped-for destination. "We have a really nice atmosphere here, the neighbours are great," said one of the prostitutes, a pretty blonde in her 30s with short hair, sporting fishnet tights and sexy red lacy undies under her turquoise dressing-gown. She said she had already welcomed several customers on the eco tariff, like all her colleagues, about a dozen woman aged between 20 and 45, the majority of whom work part-time. One of them said she was a nurse secretly moonlighting as a prostitute. Another said she was a dietary counsellor in a gym - "but times are hard". A third said she was a housewife. As for the clients, they come in all shapes and sizes, from all social classes and all ages, right up to the "doyen", who is 86 years old, said Goetz. All the employees of the "Maison d'envie" wholeheartedly approve of the eco tariff. "Regina is full of good ideas," said one. The establishment also offers special "weekend rates" with Jacuzzi options and a "two-for-one" rate. For Goetz, the brothel is "a business like any other" and prostitution is a legal sector in Germany with around 400 000 employees. "In these tight times, we are cutting costs. We've binned the tax advisor, reduced the hours of the cleaning lady and I only buy low-cost cleaning products," she said. And like any other head of industry, she is careful to appear bullish on the sector's prospects. "In a business like ours, there are always ups and downs. But we want the recovery to come quickly. I check the stock market prices every day," she revealed. moreResolved Question: Statistics problems? please help =(( i will give best answer but i really need help =(((?

Like I said, but can someone point out like the flaws, and spot the run on sentences? Thanks a lot because I feel uneasy about it. Thanks again :) ______________ August 11, 2009 ____________ The Giver Lois Lowry Setting: The setting for “The Giver” takes place in a time that is ahead of ours. It takes place in a town called “The Community”, but the book does not tell the exact location of it (state, country, and continent). Plot: The Community was in order, everything in sameness; it would be what we call, boring, dull, and lifeless, in fact you would not even be blood related to your family, for there was a job for giving birth. Jonas, one of the many average people, had been born as one of the very few special people, and in his Ceremony of Twelve, he and everyone else would realize that. As an Eleven, he had done the same thing that everyone else had his age in his community, eat, go to school, do volunteer work, have recreational time, eat and go to bed and it would be the same exact routine everyday. Though the routines for other age groups and jobs were different, they would have a routine to follow also. Every December, there would be an age ceremony and at the Ceremony of Twelve (in every age ceremony, you get something new like the bicycle to prove responsibility, with the exception of the Ceremony of Eleven), the elders would decide the job you get based on the type of volunteer work you did, but Jonas had volunteered on all of the jobs equally, so he didn’t know what he would get. When the ceremony came and the ceremonies for the other ages had passed, they were calling out each Eleven, for their job and soon, the Chief Elder had announced that Jonas’ job was to be The Receiver of Memories, a job with great honor, for he would be trained by the former Receiver, now called, The Giver. When Jonas had come to the Giver to be trained, the Giver explained to him how he would receive memories only The Receiver of Memories would know like color, love, warfare and true emotional pain. The Giver told Jonas that he must suffer these memories in place of everyone else for the community couldn’t handle it, but Jonas hadn’t like the thought of that, but it was not his choice. Soon, Jonas was told by The Giver what the meaning of releasing someone from the community (something that would happened only if a serious crime had been committed or if one is too old, or if a new born does not meet the requirements of the Community, but Jonas was told that a releasing is sending the person to Elsewhere) which is actually injecting the person with a serum that kills them, something that Jonas learned from the Giver, Jonas had developed a rebellious heart, thinking that the rules there were unfair and had a plan to escape the Community using all the memories the Giver had gave Jonas. He had created a plan to leave without notifying anyone with Gabriel (a baby that his father had to nurture in his house for his job, for this baby was about to be Released), so when he had begun to execute his plan, he used the memories he received to help bare through the wilderness of life, like the memory of warmth to pass through snow with his bike. After a long and treacherous journey through the wilderness, he had finally reached a town, a town which actually had the wonderful memories of life Jonas adored, like love, music, and color, and he and Gabriel were finally set free from the chains of the Community. Characters: At first, Jonas was just like every other Eleven, following the rules, playing with other Elevens. Although he had some parts of him that were not like others, for example, even before he was chosen as the Receiver, he had begin to see a very brief flash of color on things like an apple or his friend’s hair. Before he learned the truth about Releasing, he had never thought once about running away or leaving all the memories to the people of the Community, causing chaos throughout the Community. He was definitely unique in the way that even the when the Receivers before him found out the truth, they hadn’t thought about running away themselves. He was very determined to find the origin of the memories he adored, like love, and he risked both the life of the baby Gabriel and himself to find it. Jonas thought that his fate in the wilderness was better than the one in the Community knowing that Gabriel would die there and he would be stuck there. He basically spat in the face of the rules of the Community and left. Conflict: The conflict of the story is that once Jonas had learned the truth about Releasing and had escaped the Community, he had to face the obstacles of life, like snow and cold and hunger. Jonas had to do something fast for him and Gabriel or else they would both die there. Solution: The answer to Jonas’ problems was a very smart and logical way that the Giver had taught him. He had used the memories the Giver gave him like courage, strength and warmth to pass throug moreResolved Question: Algebra 2 question (linear equations) word problem?

Everyone knows that living a long and healthy life can be achieved through diet and exercise. But how do you know the most important elements for creating a healthy lifestyle? In this essay, I will explain how to achieve that goal, the steps you need to take, and the multiple benefits you receive from getting in shape. Along with making you look better and preventing certain diseases like osteoporosis and high blood pressure, Exercise can make you happier. “Exercise causes the body to produce endorphins, chemicals that can help a person to feel more peaceful and happy.” Even though you may know all the benefits to a healthy exercise program, you may not be motivated enough to actually begin. So you have to ask yourself this: Do I like solo sports? Or the camaraderie of team sports? Also, you might consider your schedule, surroundings and physical capability. “No matter your sports dilemma is, you have to make the decision that’s best for you.” (Stanford) Furthermore, you need to reflect on what type of exercise you need more. With Flexibility, Aerobic and Strength Training to choose from, decide whether or not you need to lose weight, tone up or regain flexibility. One of the most important parts of avoiding injuries is making sure your equipment is safe, up to date and fitting appropriately. “Using the wrong- or improperly fitted- equipment is a major cause of injuries.” When looking for a bicycle helmet, or multisport helmet, make certain that it sports a CPSC sticker. It should fit snugly but not tilt the head forward or backward. “The most protective eye gear is made from a plastic called polycarbonate and has been tested especially for sports use.” If you wear glasses, you’ll probably need prescription polycarbonate goggles. Mouth guards are used for protecting your teeth, tongue and mouth and should be used for any contact sport. Wrist, knee, and elbow guards are important too for protecting bones from fractures and sprains. Last but not least, the right footwear can protect you from falling. Cleats are used for baseball, football, soccer and softball and any shoes should be replaced before they wear out. While training is important to your game, rest is essential too. Overdoing it is quite possible and it is recommended that you rest 2 days a week with at least 2-3 months off. If you have been injured, make sure to rest until you are fully healed and can return. “Your doctor, coach or trainer will give you specific advice on when you should return to your sport or activity.” (Congeni) If you have any amount of pain, take it easy or it will get worse. Be sure to seek medical advice if you have moderate to severe pain, pain that interferes with sleep or daily activity, swelling, or inability to perform normal activities. So whether you’re into contact sports like Football and Rugby, or into honing in on your meditation skills by participating in Yoga and Pilates, there is a sport for you. But to ensure you can do it for a long time, you have to take precautions and follow safety regulations. You can do this by getting the right equipment, fitting gear, and training properly with the help or a doctor, trainer or coach. moreResolved Question: Help me design my GreenMachine?

I know that online "calories burned" calculators are just estimates, but here's what I don't get. If I ride my hybrid, my average speed is about 12.5 mph. Over 30 minutes (according to bicycling.com) at my weight, that's 286 calories burned. Now if I ride my brand new road bike, I average about 15, which is 357 calories burned when speed, duration, and weight are the variables used to calculate caloric expenditure. So here's the part that makes no sense to me; when on my road bike, I am riding a much lighter, and faster bike, so with the same amount of energy as it takes to go slower on my hybrid, the online calculators claim I am burning more calories by riding faster, even though the workload is the same. But, on the hybrid, because I'm going slower, it will take me longer to go the same distance, so I am actually working for a longer period of time. It seems to me that the bike itself should somehow be a variable in this equation, because it's more work to ride a heavier, slower bike, even if you are riding at a slower speed, so it seems to me that you should be burning just as many (if not more) energy than when you ride a faster bike. Can someone with mathematical prowess explain to me why or why not these types of equations (basing caloric expenditure on the variable of weight, speed, and time) are even remotely accurate? moreResolved Question: Can I have help on how to build a road/racing bicycle - what parts i need ect?

Let me explain my issue in a bit more depth for you. I have not made a concerted effort to work out that didn't fizzle after s few months and a large part of the reason is issues that came out of any attempt to strengthen my abs that I have undergone. When I try to do ab exercises I find it nearly impossible to not work my abs and instead I end up causing pain to my lower back. I have tried the whole imprint idea from Pilates which the instructor told me I was doing correctly. I have tried using crunches as well. Sit ups are difficult and hurt my back even more quickly than crunches. In addition, any exercise that requires me to lift my legs up into the air completely ruins any imprint that I may have been doing. As soon as my legs are up my imprint is gone. It is more than Pilates related work though. I have tried a body sculpting class that is more of a high paced movement class than the Pilates fusion class. I have tried various exercises from a weight training class. That was absolutely the worst. We started out doing bicycles and then modifying that into more difficult exercises. Most of the time I get lots of low back pain and only rarely do I actually feel any burning in my abs or soreness the next day. The pain I get in my back is what makes me stop because of what kind of pain it is. It isn't just, "Oh I am a little sore from not being used" or "I am burning because I am being worked" or even "wow this is difficult pain. It is more along the lines of "This feels unnatural and I need to arch and contract to properly do this action (even though it isn't supposed to be obviously)" pain. I guess a less animated way of describing it is that my back feels as if it is straining and in addition to that the actions is is doing are out of not otherwise being able to successfully complete an action. I have had different people tell me different things and I don't really know what to believe at this point. I have heard that it is natural, which I am inclined not to believe because even when I try to fight through the back issue (rarely), I don't usually feel any work actually being done to my abs. I have been told that it is just because my abs are so weak that my lower back needs to support them which does make some sense. I really don't know and even at that nobody has yet to be able to give me a way to resolve this problem. I am now enrolled in swordmanship classes and most of the actions we perform there come from utilization of the core muscles. For that reason I would like to improve them as much as is possible and I would most certainly like to continue with exercising. It seems that I get less involved with a physical activity once working out for it stops working. Alright, sorry for all of the details but I don't think that people usually have all of the information to address the entire issue, now I turn to you. First of all what do you think is causing my lower back to hurt when I try to do ab exercises? How would you suggest that I do about working on it? If part of the issue is just that mat work is in some way too difficult for my body at this point what alternatives would you suggest to me? Oh and I should add that knee issues and lower back issues, such as and/or related to bad posture are very common in my family. That is part of the reason that any straining back pain concerns me so much. Thank you! moreResolved Question: Power+time and simple machine help?

Anyone who didn't see the last of the story can type in: How do you like my story so far? By Maggie and read those parts before reading the rest. (Read part 1 and 2 before reading this but don't type in part 1 or 2) I was really in some kind of trance because I didn't notice him making out with me. How could I not notice? What did he do to make me so crazy and be like this? A thousand questions were running through my brain and I wanted them to be answered. But I didn't think anyone could answer them. I pushed him off be aggressively and he sat there staring hard in my eyes. He look so sad and I wanted explain to him why I pushed him away. He looked really confused and he made me act so crazy and aggressive about everything. He ran away through the front door. All this time and the door was unlocked! I stood up, stretching out my arms. I had to find out what was going on. I had find out who Vince was. Find out what Ryan was doing and why he ran away like that. Where he was going. I didn't know weather to go to class or to run now and make plans for how to solve all this. I decided to run home. I picked up my backpack and ran as fast as I could. I saw Ryan's leg disappear behind a turn when I got outside. There was my chance! I ran as fast as I could. If only I could keep up with him! Then I could find out where he was heading for. I saw an unlocked bicycle shoved into a metal rack. I grabbed it and hopped on. I pedalled quickly. I knew it was a great idea to grab the bike because i was a few inches away form Ryan's feet at the time. "Ryan, stop!" I screamed as he ran across the street! A dump truck slammed at his side and he fell limp onto the ground. moreResolved Question: Should governments give tax breaks to green people?
Many people, gluttonous, insecure, drive gas guzzling vehicles to feel better about themselves; having a false sense of security, heightened lack of consideration for others, many people drive faster than the posted speed limit, endangering the lives of everyone that may come near them. But what about the people that ride bicycles? People that do not own a car? I remember talking to someone and thinking what a load of bull, as they explained how they write off more mileage and other stuff, regarding their taxes. I realize I don't pay gasoline tax and vehicles maintenance fees, etc., but I also do not endanger peoples' lives, under my own hand (driving too fast in a few thousand pound weapon), nor do I beat up the road or spew pollution into the air. Why is it that I pay more in taxes? I know that many, many peoples' lives will be changing, when we get past the self absorbed things we do, such as some owning several vehicles, because they simply can afford to and they must not look vulnerable to their peers, due to insecurities and such. It is terrible, at times, I see someone driving their oversized Hummer and because they're not so able to maneuver the vehicle, along with the desire to show other people up, they park in no parking zones or even in the middle of the designated 'driving' area of a parking lot, rather than in an actual parking spot. I noticed some are short, and they're not the best drivers, rather than pull into a spot they just drive right up and park. Well, I guess we can't penalize people for being stupid, but how about people that make a conscious effort to conserve and not waste. I keep my heat on 50 most of the time, with a space heater in my room, or I literally bounce off the walls to up my body temperatue. I went thru less than 200 gallons of fuel oil in the past year, mainly because I'm bound to an apartment, as opposed to having the financial ability to afford anything more. As well, my father built his home in 1981 and to this day it is one of the most efficient homes I've seen. Probably THE most efficient. In two years they burned 190 gallons of fuel oil and about 2.5 coords of wood. Granted, wood may not be the best option, however, the alternative is being bound to making someone rich, buying their product, heating oil. People often skimp on quality, due in part to a lack of concern for whoever may live in the home because it saves them money. Rather than building the best, most efficients homes, contractors will slap up pre-fabricated houses which, if built right, would save the homeowners plenty of money and would be more efficient in regards to conserving energy. Getting tax breaks for using less fuel, polluting less, endangering fewer lives, etc., in my opinion, gives me plenty of incentive to ride my bike and take shorter showers, etc. After a while, people get used to things and we could all be taking fewer / shorter showers, which could have a serious impact on future times, ie. global warming, economic recession. What do you think? No trolls, please. Thanks in advance. Let's all have an open mind about the real future of our childrens' home. moreVoting Question: Could somebody please critique my resume? I am going to buy my first mountainbike, nothing special..i just want a good quality bike suitable for a beginner like me, that will last quite some time (years) without problems. There are two bicycles currently on my mind: Option A: 21 speed, shimano V-brakes, double walled rims, front suspensions, 2 yr guarantee on the frame, ladies frame, 250euros, brand name is Ideal (it's a Greek brank) and the model is called Strike. Option B: 21 speed, shimano V-brakes, normal rims, front suspensions, 2 yr guarantee on the frame, one-size-fits-all frame, 191euros, brand name is Esperia (an italian brand) and the model is called Torpado I have heard rumours that Esperia import certain bicycle parts from developing countries (where parts are produced cheaply but are very low quality), but I am not quite sure if this is true.. ... Which would you buy?! If you should answer, I'd rather you explain why you've chosen that option. Thanks everyone for your help :)Since I live in Malta, I'm not really worried that its not a *REAL* mountain bike cos..well, we have no mountains!! :p all we have are either normal tarmac roads, or rural dusty roads rull of potholes and those small elusive stones that people/bikes slip on. The Ideal bikes that I saw were being sold at a specialist bicycle shop, they're the only guys that get Ideal bikes (they're the authorized dealers) so 99% they also get spare parts no problem. regarding option B, the moment they told me it was a one size fits all kind of bike, a warning signal went on in my head...but i wasn't sure if i was exaggerating things. I'm only just a beginner in cycling. that's why I decided to ask you guys :) Excellent response so far, please keep giving me your opinions people! To Austin M: I don't know whether they sell Specialized bikes here in Malta. I haven't seen one yet. There are Trek bikes, Bianchi bikes, Raleigh bikes, and I don't know what else. We have are many bikes equipped with Shimano parts, especially brakes. (Btw I'd never buy a bike from a supermarket..) moreResolved Question: Have you purposely eaten an insect at any time in your life?

Okay, first let me say that I've been having alot of-what some might say-"psychic incounters" lately. I just turned thirteen, and that's when all the women in my family say they started having very intuitive vibes and vivid dreams. But here's my dream, and hopefully you can make sense of it. There was a first part to it, but I can't remember it thoroughly enough to explain it, so here's the second part. My mom, my friend (her name was either Danielle, Raven, Kim or Kiki. And I'm not friends with a Kim nor Kiki) and I believe two or three other people were watching a scary movie. It was really dark out and I remember looking out a big window (like the one we see through from upstairs that's above our front door) as I talked to one of them. I don't remember what I was saying though. The next day we went to something like a marathon. It was a bicycle type though. I was sitting in a Jeep by myself and next to me was a van with a disney world picture on it. On it said "This means alot to us. When you race you raise money, and that's why the Make A wish foundation is really upset when you don't finish!" Now may I remind you, the Jeep I was in had the passenger and drivers seat doors open. I was looking out the passengers seat side view mirror and saw the bikers coming toward me alot of them just passed by the side and I remember thinking "What if one of them jump in the car?" As I'm thinking this a young looking pale boy stopped and looked inside. He said Hi. I got out the car and walked toward the front and said "This is my friend (one of the names up there)'s car." But in reality, the car looked exactly like the kind my mom has. *In the dream, the view constantly changes from my own eyes to as if I'm a bystander watching myself.* He said okay and asked me if I could by him something. He runs through his hair and says he wants to have body. I said OH! He wants hair gel. All of a sudden, all the people I was watching a movie with come up and one of my friends ask "What's your name?" What he says sounds like a grunt, like someone has his mouth covered. We all giggled and my friends were saying how cute he was. We get in the car to get him hair gel and I look at him (bystander view now) and smile. He smiles back and we drive off..Now we're home. I'm in my room and I get on the computer (eye view) Some site I go to says "Menneson" with little hearts all over it and it's flashing. I click on it and up comes a video. The video is with the guy I just met and some girl, who I later called Madison, but her name was spelt "Menneson". They were having sex. I didn't think much of it, and scrolled down. At the bottom of the page it said "Fero Audon and Jasmine (My last name) have four kids together and have been married for two years." After I read it out loud I said "OH! So that was his name. Fero Audon." I then asked myself if we got a divorce. I went on Y! and asked if Fero Audon and Jasmine (Last Name) got a divorce, or are we still married. Then I woke up. What do you think it meant? I saw everything so vividly, so I really did think it was real. And the reason I asked is because last night I was laying on my left side thinking of a song, and it felt like a male voice whispered something in my right ear. I heard it fine, but he was talking too fast. I turned my head and the voice went away. What do you think all of this means? Please don't say I'm crazy/nuts/psycho cause psychic-ness runs in my family. Believe it or not, I don't care. Just answer accordingly please. If you had any encounters like this or vivid dreams that came true please help. Thanks in advance. The sex video seemed to be when he was older. He was still really pale, but he was now bald. I didn't see the girls face in the video though. And I just found out "Menneson" is a popular french last name and Fero means "I bring" in latin. Audon is an Electronics store in the UK..Alright, the sex video was nothing like the things on the internet. It was like something from the grudge or the ring. everything had that black and white, pale vainy look to it. I didn't even think about it. I just looked at it and scrolled down. I wasn't shocked and I didn't find it pleasureable. It was just there, like some boring documentary. And I don't even like scary movies. And about the whisper; It sounded like "right here/right there" followed by something else. if it wasn't that, it sounded similar to that phrase. Sorry about all the details, but I'm trying to give as much information as possible.Another thing; Also, I do believe Fero had something like a foriegn accent; Russian maybe? The passage on the website stated hihs occupation, and I remember thinking he was very wealthy. Also when I first met him, he had a problem talking. Like instead of just asking for hair gel, I had to interpret what he was saying and doing with his hands (i.e, running hands through his hair, saying he wants more 'body in his hair') He really wasn't all that attractive when I first met him. But he seemed really sweet even though we barely talked. He had amazing eyes and nice hair. When he went bald I didn't even recognize him. His eyes were big and blue, and looked like they were about to pop out of his head. If I was phased by the video I think I would've been scared.Audon is a commune in the Landes department in Aquitaine in southwestern France.. So far alot about this guy I met has to do with Latin and French. moreResolved Question: crank size for my road bike bicycle.?
